Lonavala has chikki and fudge shops on every corner, running on a “buy one get one” tourist economy that never really slows down. Khandala, a few minutes further, has a handful of quiet cafés and no queue for any of them. Lonavala’s Tiger Point and Bhushi Dam are postcard-famous and packed by 10am on a good day. Khandala’s Duke’s Nose and its sunset point stay half-empty even on a Saturday.
The real difference is pace. Lonavala is built for a full day of doing things, one stop after another. Khandala is built for doing one thing, slowly, and not feeling like you’re wasting the trip by sitting still.
Same range, same weather, completely different Saturday. We still haven’t agreed on which one we actually prefer — we just keep going back to both.
